Who else has family that neglects their cars?

I'm glad I am not the only one with this problem!!!! I like it when I go to check the oil and find something that looks like chocolate pudding in the base of the engine, or go to check the oil and find what looks like black grit on the dipstick, or check under the hood to be nice and find...

    what's in your oil stash???

Clearly I have some catching up to do!!!!! Do you guys manage to always find deals on these oils or is it more of just having it in case???? Seems every time I see oil on sale it always still ends up being more than the normal walmart price...so that's where I go to buy it.

Looking for a Good Lever Action Grease Gun

Are you storing the grease cartridge so it stands up and not laying down? If not, air pockets will form in the grease and make using it a pain.

    what's in your oil stash???

I must admit, after reading these forums for years I have gathered quite a collection of oils. Between my dodge truck, my girlfriend's kia, and the random lawn equipment I take care of I have developed quite a stash of oil bottles of this that and the other. Just curious what you guys keep on...

    MoS2 & W-2WD-4D

I have a question regarding oil for a cvt transmission that I can't make sense of. The transmission it goes into is for an offroad type of vehicle I have no previous experience with made by Twister. The manual is kind of vague on everything, but the cvt transmission oil has no further...

can't keep Pennzoil Platinum in engine

Yes, this car does see a lot of back and forth trips to work and back home, lunch time included, grocery stores, etc...so for MOST trips the engine doesn't really stay at operating temperature long before getting parked somewhere for an hour or more. I am not sure that the oil was filled exactly...

can't keep Pennzoil Platinum in engine

I had to add 2 quarts, the capacity is roughly 4.5 quarts with filter, it has been about 4,000 miles since the oil was changed. Keep in mind most travel time in this vehicle is 5 minutes down the road, so not a whole lot of running time.

can't keep Pennzoil Platinum in engine

My friend has a 2006 Kia Spectra that gets the oil changed out every 5,000 miles with Pennzoil Platinum since that is what the oil change place has been using. While changing out the transmission fluid I pulled the engine dipstick and to my surprise the oil level was well below the low mark...

    I HATE brake hydraulic issues

Only other thing that comes to mind that I have not seen in any reply yet is the caliper itself that you replaced. I never did much auto work for a living but did work in an equipment shop for a while, and the boss was the cheapest guy I ever met. He would often order chinese aftermarket parts...

    I HATE brake hydraulic issues

Did you use DOT 4 brake fluid???? As I understand it, DOT 4 has slightly more compressability than DOT 3.

replacing dodge dakota power steering fluid

I read that my 2002 dakota probably came factory filled with AFT+4 for the power steering. I have a gallon of Super Tech automatic transmission fluid that says "for use on vehicles requiring former dexron III or mercon fluid". Is this fluid capable of temporarily replacing the factory fill to...

    Kia Spectra manual transmission fluid

After calling the dealer and asking, they couldn't even tell me what bulk oil they use, all they knew was that is wasn't the same as the manual recommends...so I decided to go with the Redline. I was told I could order some Kia oil in quart bottles, but I would have to order at least one case...

    Kia Spectra manual transmission fluid

No problems with the car that I am aware of, just catching up on maintenance for a friend before winter comes along. I just figure the original lube has seen its better days by now, and typically down on the gulf coast the weather during the winter is constantly turning cold then hot, cold then...

    Kia Spectra manual transmission fluid

Is there a manual transmission fluid that anyone might recommend for a front wheel drive Kia that specs a 75-85 gl-4 gear fluid? No one local carries it or even heard of it, and mostly what I find online is Redline, which I'm sure is good. Not sure if the factory fill is synthetic or not, but...

    Grease for forklift forks

When I was working on forklifts for a living, this is what we used for the chains and carriage where the forks mount. It sprayed on easy and stayed VERY tacky without thick globs like grease. http://www.zep.com/ZepSearch/default1.as...t&country=U
