Replacing a leaky natural gas valve

Just a way of having the fitting multi task. You have 1/2 Male if you need it, or if you happen to need 3/8 female, its built in and don't need a reducing bushing.

Busted control arm bolt. DIY or not?

Bolt vs hole seems way over/undersized. Does the shoulder of the bushing get drawn down into the opening?

Replacing a leaky natural gas valve

If you are assembling things as laid out in the last photo and as described in one of the last posts, you are mixing iron pipe threads with flare( I think what you are calling tapered )fitting threads. They might loosely thread in and eventually jam together but man, this is the wrong situation...

    Name that tool!

The arrow pointed brass piece went into the dowels across the top of the board. The 1/8th dowels were at a 90 degree angle to the face of the board, like a tiny picket for the entire width of the 4 foot wide board and marked like a tape measure. The opposing rail nearest you had a similar rail...

    Name that tool!

It's the straight edge used for cutting glass. Lays on large board with dowel pins across the top. Knurled knob fine tunes the actual measurement. Lays on top of glass and you hold and pull the glass cutter along side to score the glass.

Cleaning out the barn…What are these?

We've all seen and probably bought the other half of the sash weight equation. The 50 foot packages of " sash cord" or "sash rope" at the hardware store. Original stuff was even cotton based because in theory it was ever exposed to the element. People would often buy it for clothes line rope(...

Cleaning out the barn…What are these?

Some kind of mold/die? Pour in molten liquid like wax maybe or pressing soft metal or leather?

Is Discount Tire certificate worth it for my situation?

It's been a while but on a new set of 4 from Discount Tire, the question of certificates came up when I was paying the bill. Don't remember how much they were but tires were under 100 bucks a piece. If I recall the 4 certs equalled the price of one tire. Half joking, I asked the young guy if I...

'19 Jeep 2.0T oil leak -- VVT actuator

long shot but could it be leaking out thru the harness connector? Like thru the where the connector plugs into the actuator? Looks wet up in that area too.

    Circuit breaker tripping

Rats. At least we know what it isn't. Proceed with process of elimination.

    Circuit breaker tripping

If you want to drop 25 bucks on a nice little device, Klein has one of those palm sized digital outlet testers. Checks voltage, open neutrals, grounds, GFI trip time, etc. Plug it in to the kurieg outlet and run a few different scenarios. Might not show anything but you might get lucky and...

Garage door opener/closer won't close in bright sun

Don't now the generation of your unit, but I had same problem with a pretty old unit. Turns out one sensor was a sender and one was a receiver. Flipped their location and all was good.

Favorite Stainless Cleaner and polish for appliances?

Always had good luck with the Spayway stainless version. Kind of lemon scented like Pledge and appears to be some kind of oil base emulsion. If the overspray dries on your tile floor, look out. One misstep and you're flat on your back.
