Terry,
I have a very close friend that lives in The Woodlands, TX...... a great place I love to visit. I'll check to see if he knows the meaning to "proprioceptive"....then there will be 3 of us!
Will do, Terry....10w-30 up here when it's 15 deg. though? Or would it be o.k. since it is an older car with 110,000 miles? I don't mean to nit-pick....but wondering if that is part of the problem/solution as well.
I will also be changing the timing belt-tensioner assembly to see if that...
Thanks, Molecule.....I will be ordering the #132 tomorrow along with the #131.....I will post on any effectiveness toward the piston slap.......boy I can not stand that noise!
I have the 2.2l v-tech which seems to have some piston slap that I am trying to deal with....looking to add #132 Moly to the 5w-30 M1 for a little more protection and hopefully noise reduction.......your thoughts?
In the analysis you stated:
"I don't forsee any cold temp pumpability problems. While the carrier in #132 is a thick surfactant, it mixes readily with the host oil and disperses well. I think if you stick to a treatment rate of 50 mL (1.5 oz) per quart, you will not see the viscosity rise more...
I definitely have seen that taking the oil filler cap off helps. You don't have to leave it all the way off.....I worry about dust getting in there too....just lay it back on loosely. The atmospheric pressure helps the oil or any liquid, flow.
What about the #132 Moly E.P. Oil Treatment?
How much moly there? Would you advise adding it to the 7000 series or the pure synthetic to raise the moly ppm even higher?
As you can tell......I'm on a "moly binge"
From what I've read here in this forum, it is one of the things that changed Mobil 1 tri synthetic to Mobil 1 SS. I believe I read it contains about 80 ppm of moly as opposed to Schaeffers 7000 which I read was around 170 ppm.
Bob, can you please shed some light on the differences on 3 of Schaeffer's products?
1. #100 Micron Moly Motoroil
2. #156 MolyPure synthetic
3. "701 Supreme 700
Namely, are the moly amounts the same in each?
I am getting more and more interested in the importance of moly in motor...
How is this moly coating applied and how long does anyone expect it might last? The more I read these forums (everyday) the more I am convinced that moly is more of an important additive than most realize and wonder why more oil formulations don't contain and advertise the fact that they contain...

......................How can the BG engine flush treatment possibly be considered one of the gentler treatments out there when you can only leave it in 10-15 minutes as opposed to hundreds, if not thousands of miles like Neutra 131 or Auto-Rx? If there is a harsher treatment yet...
I got the optional M1-105 instead of the M1-104. It fits in there perfectly for my '96 Accord. Same price but 30% more filtering capacity.....Thanks for the great info!!!!!!
