It does a lot of motorway miles behind lorries. Weirdly, on this engine the intake is inside the engine bay, so it is probably picking up any oil vapours etc from in there as well. I think that filter had about 15k miles on it.
This! Just removing that glue doesn't solve anything. The likely hood is that glue should have been somewhere else (sealing something or sticking the filter media together). I wouldn't put that anywhere near my car even if I could brake it off.
That looks like it's done some good cleaning. The one you've used HPL on has much more crud in the pleats. Just makes me sad that you can't get the proper HPL oil over here in the UK. I've love to run a few oil changes with that stuff to give my engine a good clean out!
That does work great, but only for you. If you come to sell the vehicle, you have no log that anyone will believe. The idea is both for personal use, and for being able to then sell on the vehicle. I'd love to buy a vehicle that's been cared for and looked after by a BITOG memeber as it's most...
That's brilliant. But so far we've covered Honda's in the US.
Is that a common thing around the world? I've never heard of anyone in the UK having access to that kind of thing sadly.
I'm pretty sure that's just for work that's been carried out at registered garages isn't it? Or at least I think it is here in the UK. Also for much older cars this probably isn't an option.
Excel can be tampered with. Dates can be changed, false services added etc.
Hi all,
I am wondering what peoples thoughts would be on a "Maintenance Log" section on this site. It maybe a little selfish for a forum, but I've often wanted to keep a track of what services / work has been carried out on my vehicle, and have it accessible to send to people interested in that...
They're doing that because if they manage to get away with it under warranty it'll be Ford that foots the bill and not them as a franchise! If it was the dealerships mistake, they should be paying for the whole lot. (That's if American dealerships work the same way as UK based ones).
It was more as a "preventative" lets clean it up kind of thing. I was thinking that if I was to use the fuel system cleaner, it may contaminate the oil and a good flush out and fresh oil would be a nice process. I think I'll just do a short interval on standard classic oil and then replace it...
Hi All,
Another quick question for the oil specialists on here! I am planning to do a thorough clean out / service of my Dads classic land rover. (2.0l petrol 1950s).
I have a quick question. Having recently done a load of experimenting with pinking (which I'm pretty sure turns out to be...
Was that aimed at me? If so, it's a Manual. It easily gets 60mpg (UK) which is 50ish (US). And if I drive carefully then 75 (UK) or 62 (US) is pretty easy to get.
Because it's a friend that's doing the work, and I wanted to get the Honda Genuine part myself. They often use the same two suppliers and they'd have been aftermarket filters they would have most likely bought.
