I narrowed down my search for a new vehicle to these two: Toyota 4Runner Limited Dodge Durango Citadel What I plan on using the vehicles for: * Haul *stuff* in the trunk and on top of the vehicle (fire wood, general boxes, tree branches, etc..) * Bicycles, skis, hockey equipment x2 * Towing...

Honda Pilot vs Toyota 4Runner vs VS Toureg

The entire post reads like: * VW Toureg - OUT * Nissan Pathfinder - OUT (my neighbor dumped his Rogue this week with 40,000 miles on it because the AWD system got him stuck on 5 separate occasions and his Jaguar AWD never let him down in 9 years of ownership. Ended up buying a Subaru Forester...

Honda Pilot vs Toyota 4Runner vs VS Toureg

I test drove the Hyundai and was not impressed. Nissan built quality for a while tanked but I am not familiar with there current offerings. I took an informal survey from people in my area who drive the current and older model Toyota Highlander (sample size of 7) and the response are universal...

Most true..yes, the dealership performs the 'advanced jobs'. I only perform basic maintenance myself (oil, tire rotations, etc...) The only large job I completed this month to save myself a $1,100 dealership bill was replacing the heat/air control knob wire. Had a fun time dismantling my center...

The fuel additive did help in conjunction with the oil. Aside from the excessive carbon build up issue, the only costs I put into the car was breaks and tires. I put the key in and it was 100% reliable. But the excessive valve cleanings was crushing my wallet and I was tired of having to special...

Yes. Of the many oils I tried in trial-n-error, ONLY the Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 delayed my carbon build up the best. The worst was the default oil: Castrol Syntec 5w-40. Mobil 1 ESP 5w-40 and 0w-40 differences was not noticeable. I did try other brands as well but they didn't work for my situation...
