    Older car repair advice

I swear no one here reads a [censored] thing I've posted. And as such maybe I need to yell a bit: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE EXHAUST LEAK AND NEITHER DOES MY MECHANIC. IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT CARE THAT THE CAR IS NOT WORTH MUCH. MY WIFE WANTS HER CAR FIXED AND I WILL DO SO. /end...

    Older car repair advice

As I'm the only person (other than my mechanic) who thinks a rattling leaky exhaust is not a safety issue and everyone apparently thinks I'm trying to kill my wife whom I don't care for due to neglecting a vehicle despite trying to honor her desires and requests about her vehicle...just...

    Older car repair advice

Vehicle: 2003 Subaru Outback with 163,000 miles. Car is my wife's daily driver. It is needing a goodly amount of repairs due to age/miles/issues from being in the rust belt for 12 years before escaping. Car is paid off, my wife likes it, and want to keep it as long as we can. Issues and needs...

    Which Michelin's for my Accord?

Ugh, the Primacy MXM4 are the worst tires my folks have had on their car in winter conditions, and it's AWD. For a commuter Accord, I'd go with the Premier or Defenders.

Best and Worst SET of tires you've ever put on

Worst: Potenza G009 (loud, terrible in anything but dry) Best: Michelin Primacy MXV4 (got over 70K out of a 60K tire, still had 4/32 left when replaced due to age/cracking. Quiet, predictable in all conditions) Meh: Kelly Chargers (cheapish, decent traction, wore out fast)

    Gumout OneNDone overdose or underdose?

Added full bottle to car with the temperamental fuel gauge last night, will report if there are any changes. Car is mostly used for city usage and gets a mix of Kroger and Shell fuel.

    People don't fix things anymore

I self taught myself car repairs when I was a grad student because I was too broke to have anything done that could not be done cheaper, cause I was racking up student loans at a depressing rate while unemployed. Between forums and youtube I've managed to do plenty of minor service and repairs...

    Conventional Motor Oil? Why?

Recommend does not mean required. Warranty is based on spec required (API SM, Dexos, whatever) not type of oil UNLESS it states as such.

    Which oil do I use!?

If you trust them for the oil grade, why not for the interval?
