I have a lot of respect for guys like Johnny: he believes in the product his company sells. I hate it when a guy works for a company and then refuses to use or purchase their product.

I just use Marvel Mystery Oil every fill up and never worry about any other cleaners or additives. No problems yet. A friend does the same and has over 250,000 miles on an old chevy astro van with no repairs, no problems.

+1 for the Rotella 15 40. That's what I run in my air cooled v star 1100. shifts great, no problems and It's $9 cheaper per gallon than the 5w 40. I do plan to run the 5w 40 in the winter though. Get the 15w 40 and treat yourself to a value meal with the money you save!

Thanks everyone for all your comments! I usually change my oil every 2500 - 3000 miles, so I guess I'll save my $5 and keep using the 15-40. By the way, someone asked what the manual recommended, it says to use 10 30 or 20 40 Yamalube.

I have an 06 Yamaha V Star 1100 (air cooled). I've been using Rotella T 15-40 and it seems to work great. BUT I am thinking about switching to Rotella Synthetic 5 40. does the 5 40 shear faster than the 15-40? Would you change? Thanks for your advice!

Air cooled? I'd use Rotella T. All of my air cooled machines get it. Mowers, motorcycles, etc.

The bottle says it burns hotter and eliminates the need for high octane gas. I was wondering how it accomplished this without an octane booster?

Does Lucas UCL have octane boosters in it?

When I look at that stuff clinging to those gears In the Auto parts store display, I just can't believe I'd want that in my oil. Maybe as a gear grease, but not in my oil. by the way, I'm one of the nutty people that uses Quaker Slick 50 oil.
