95 Miata driven about 4k miles per year. Last year at 75k I switched to GC and the engine has started leaking oil from the rear main seal. I know it's probably unrelated, but it seems odd to me that the engine didn't leak a drop for 75k miles and one OCI later it's leaking pretty good from an...
Well no replies yet, so let me phrase it differently.
Is it worth using up my GC in an engine this old? The original owner changed it regularly at the quick lube places with bulk dino.
So, use up the GC I've got on the shelf or buy Maxlife for $1/qt instead?
I ran 0-w40 M1 in my 02 Jetta 1.8T for 85k with zero problems. The car was running over twice the stock boost levels with many modifications and some light track duty.
I've got a stash of GC that I've been running in my 95 Miata with great results. It's time to change the oil in my newly acquired pickup with 137k on it and I was wondering if the GC will be beneficial for an engine rated for a 10w-30? I know it's a great oil, but I've read several posts about...
My wife's 04 Elantra just had the engine replaced under warranty at 53k miles due to excessive spark knock that the dealers have said was normal for the past year.
Tomorrow I go to pick up a new hub/bearing assembly for the one that has failed- which I think is lame for a car with less than 60k...
Background info- my RSX type s has a very common issue where the 5-6 synchro sometimes causes the shift to 3rd to not engage. It's a known problem and there is a TSB on it. I had the transmission repaired as per the TSB at my Acura dealer only to have the transmission lock up two days later (the...
DOH! I forgot the base calls for a 20wt.
I will be changing to GC in the type S tonight. After 10k I'll send a sample off to Blackstone. My last 10k OCI with M1 5w30 was pretty good with the exception of higher than average lead and iron. The viscosity breakdown on the M1 is what prompted me...
Thanks for the insight! The only thing I'm still less than thrilled about is how low the viscosity got. I'll sample again at 5k and see how it is.
I WISH it was an NSX, but it is only an RSX-S.
I hope I didn't get anyone in trouble! I couldn't be any happier with the service I received from Blackstone. You guys were fast, communicated well and did I mention fast?
I didn't mean to have such an alarmist tone to my post- this is my first UOA on a car that I don't know that well and an...
