New ATV oil consumption problem with Amsoil 0W-40

There must be something to this? A number of guys on a King Quad forum report "oil disappearing" with the 0W-40 AMSOIL. Switching to another brand seems to correct the issue. In all fairness to AMSOIL, Suzuki recommends a 10W-40 for most service, and a 5W-30 for extreme cold weather. Maybe the...

    Polaris 2W-50 ATV oil?

Yep, couldn't find a spec in the 850 manual. In my 500 manual, it specs to API-SH. The AMSOIL 0W-40 Powersports meets API-SL/CF specs, so I'm more than covered on that one. If I get an XP 850, I will use the AMSOIL PS in that too.

    Polaris 2W-50 ATV oil?

I read your post this morning, and stopped at my dealer on the way home tonight. I asked him what is the recommended oil for my ATV... he said PS-4. I asked him what "weight" is that oil. He looked it up in the manual, and on the Polaris service site... and said 2W-50. Anyhow, I was just...

    Polaris 2W-50 ATV oil?

Have not tried to buy it, as mine calls for 0W-40. All the guys with 2009's are saying that the manual specifically states "2W-50". Either way, that's quite a viscosity range. I would be interested in knowing who makes that oil?

    Polaris 2W-50 ATV oil?

Not a typo. The new Polaris ATV oil recommendation is their 2W-50 synthetic oil. If I'm not mistaken, that's the widest viscosity range of any oil yet? Never heard of such an animal. Anybody have an idea who could be making this stuff for them?

Anyone done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PS oil?

The ATV in question is a Sportsman 500, so the oil is not shared between the engine and CVT... engine only. I know the guy has read my question, but hasn't responded... only to say that the guy switched to Mobil 1. My thought is this... if AMSOIL PS oil won't hold up in a quad for 30...

Anyone done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PS oil?

Thanks Pablo, Still waiting for that guy to come up with some numbers on those tests. If he posts them, I'll get them up in here.

Anyone done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PS oil?

Thanks Pablo, That's a shame that the UOA's can't be trusted. Doesn't make sense to do them if you can't be sure the results are accurate. On the other hand, relying on the manufacturers or their reps is probably not a safe bet... they all say their stuff is the best. Doesn't leave us with...

Anyone done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PS oil?

LOL... Yea, I'm wondering about the UOA's for the AMSOIL 0W-40 PowerSports oil in an ATV. The guy with the issues with it had a 500 Sportsman ATV.

Anyone done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PS oil?

Has anyone actually seen, or done a UOA on AMSOIL 0W-40 PowerSports oil? I searched and could not find anything. On an ATV site, a member stated that his friend had two UOA's done on the 0W-40 AMSOIL... once after 30 hours, and once after 40. Apparently Blackstone said to change out the oil as...

    AMSOIL 2000 Synthetic Chaincase Lube

Thanks guys. I already put this stuff in. I'm sure if it's AMSOIL... it's about as good as you can get.
