I just bought a 'Super-Tech' ST8A filter and on the box it states 99% First pass efficiency, and 98% multi pass efficiency, as tested by Champion laboratories.Are these good ratings? And do they really mean anything? And, most importantly, is the ST filter any good?

What are the differences between all the different base stocks that I see talked about all the time here? Such as group II,II+,III,IV and so on. Does it really make a difference?
